The Western Yellow Bat is the Pacific counterpart of the northern yellow bat, roosting in the dead fronds of fan palms and yuccas in the Sonoran Desert and coastal southern California. It is a strong, fast flier that forages over desert washes and irrigated agricultural lands. The species has expanded its range northward in California as palm tree plantings have become more widespread.
