The Sungrebe is a peculiar tropical bird with a unique relationship to its offspring — males can carry their young in skin pouches under each wing while in flight. It has appeared once in Arizona. The striped black-and-white head, lobed feet, and long tail make it distinctive. It swims quietly along shaded jungle streams.
