The Mexican Small-eared Shrew is a montane shrew of the cloud forests and highland grasslands of central Mexico that just enters the northern limits of North America as broadly defined. It has very small, nearly concealed ears and a short tail, typical of the Cryptotis genus. Little is known about its natural history due to its rarity and difficult-to-survey habitat.
