The Negro Bug (Corimelaena pulicaria) is a tiny, shiny black bug with a conspicuously enlarged scutellum that covers most of its abdomen, giving it a beetle-like appearance. It is common on flowers and low vegetation in eastern North America. When disturbed it drops and is almost impossible to find against dark soil.
