The Nevada Bumble Bee is a large, yellow-dominated bumble bee of western mountains and Great Plains, with minimal black patterning compared to most species. It nests underground in abandoned rodent burrows and is active from spring through late summer at higher elevations. Queen colonies are initiated early in spring when this large-bodied bee can fly at near-freezing temperatures.
