The Green Hairstreak is a small but brilliantly colored butterfly, with the underside of its wings a vivid iridescent green that provides excellent camouflage among leaves. The upper side is plain brown and rarely seen at rest. It has a wide Holarctic distribution and flies early in spring in sheltered sunny spots.
