The Pectoral Sandpiper is a medium-sized sandpiper recognized by the sharp demarcation between its heavily streaked breast and clean white belly — like a bib. Males inflate a throat sac and produce a hollow booming sound during courtship. It is a common migrant through the interior and is one of the long-distance champions, migrating from the arctic to South America.
