Safety note: Dangerous — observe from a safe distance.

The American Bison is the heaviest land animal in North America, with bulls weighing up to 2,000 pounds. Once numbering in the tens of millions, bison were nearly extirpated in the 19th century but have since been partially restored through conservation efforts. Bison wallow in dust to deter insects and shed their heavy winter coat each spring.
