The San Clemente Island Fox is a subspecies of the Island Fox found only on San Clemente Island, managed by the U.S. Navy. It was severely reduced by predation from Golden Eagles and competition with feral cats and pigs but has recovered following predator removal programs. Each Channel Island fox subspecies is genetically distinct after thousands of years of island isolation.
