Prairie Goldenpea is a low native legume of the northern Great Plains and Rocky Mountain foothills, producing bright yellow pea-like flowers that are among the first wildflowers to bloom on the spring prairie. It is a nitrogen-fixer and important early-season food source for bumblebee queens. It spreads by underground rhizomes to form large colonies.
