Johnsongrass is an aggressive perennial grass introduced from the Mediterranean that has become one of the most widespread invasive plants in North America. Despite its invasive status, its seeds are consumed by many songbirds and ground-feeding birds. It forms dense stands along roadsides and in agricultural areas across the southern half of the continent.
