Safety note: Dangerous — observe from a safe distance.

The Florida Panther is a critically endangered subspecies of mountain lion reduced to fewer than 200 individuals in southern Florida, making it one of the rarest large mammals in North America. Inbreeding caused by population isolation led to reproductive abnormalities that were partially corrected by introducing Texas mountain lions in the 1990s. Road mortality on Florida highways remains one of the leading causes of death for this felid.
