The Hummingbird Clearwing is a day-flying hawk moth with transparent wing patches bordered in reddish-brown and a chunky, bumblebee-like body that routinely fools observers into thinking they've spotted a hummingbird or large bee. It hovers steadily at flowers using a long proboscis to extract nectar. Adults are active during the day and are highly attracted to garden flowers.
