Shaw's Mastiff Bat is a large free-tailed bat of tropical America that ranges north through Mexico, with occasional records in Texas. Like other mastiff bats, it has massive forward-projecting ears joined at the midline and requires height for takeoff. It roosts in rock crevices and hollow trees and forages high above the forest canopy.
