The Least Flycatcher is the smallest Empidonax flycatcher in the East and one of the most persistently vocal, delivering its sharp 'CHE-BEK' song hundreds of times per hour from forest edges and aspen groves. Males establish territories within loose colonies and engage in competitive singing matches. It is barely distinguishable from several similar Empidonax species except by voice and habitat.
