Safety note: May carry rabies — do not approach or handle.

The Pallid Bat is a large, pale bat that is immune to the venom of the Arizona bark scorpion and actively hunts scorpions and large beetles on the ground rather than catching them in flight. It uses its enormous ears to detect the sounds of prey moving in leaf litter and sand. Pallid bats have a distinctive musky odor produced by shoulder glands and emit audible social calls recognizable to the human ear.
